1940s Metlox California Royal Poppy Blue 6-3/4" Bread & Butter Plates (3 plates in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, chips, or crazing and only minimal signs of use [very few scratches, priced @ $15/plate]; 1 plate in acceptable usable condition with mild crazing [priced at $7]). The plate with crazing was received covered in grime (I cleaned it up), so appears to have a different use history from the excellent condition plates (which were clean). Looks like stoneware (not translucent, thicker). There is some light peppering (black specks) included in glaze. Sold as a set of 4 for $52.
Royal Poppy by Metlox was known to be sold in 1942/1943 (don't know if there were any other runs). Blue is hand painted underglaze which is resistant to wear. Leaves around trim are three-dimensional raised. Really excellent condition! Enjoy vintage southern California pottery from Pasadena! Hard to find. Free shipping in the USA.
